Also known as the passion fruit. It is a climbing plant that grows in South America and Central America, it is considered native to the Amazon of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
Passion fruit is a round fruit, approximately 4 to 10 cm in diameter, has a hard shell, which is not edible and its juicy pulp is full of seeds. It has an acidic and sweet flavor at the same time and its color can vary between green, yellow and purple.
It is known as passion fruit, due to the shape of its thorny flower that captivated the Spanish colonizers who called it that.
